Go figure.
NBC today announced that the newly divorced singer has been named as a musical coach on the new music competition series The Voice.
Aguilera will join Cee Lo and Adam Levine, who will also be coaches on the Carson Daly-hosted series, which launches April 26. The show will feature three stages of competition—an audition, a battle phase and finally the live performance shows. The winner will receive a recording contract and $100,000.
"Christina has a once-in-a-generation talent, her voice is phenomenally distinctive and instantly recognizable," says NBC honcho Paul Telegdy. "Her journey as an artist, who started so young in the music business, will be an inspiration to the talent she coaches on the show."
For her part, Aguilera (or at least a publicist pretending to be Aguilera) released the following statement:
"To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists' careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms," the singer said in a statement. "I am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to The Voice."
Who knows, maybe she can bring her mug shot, too.
